The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nasarawa State Command said it recovered N90m from 12 suspected fraudsters.
The state commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Bashir Lawa-Kano, said the command received 157 cases of fraud in the state in 2016, noting that the anti-corruption department recovered the money from the suspected fraudsters.
Lawa-Kano made disclosure on Thursday in Lafia at a two-day workshop tagged ‘NSCDC and service delivery in the era of change mantra’ for SERVICOM and private guard companies desk officers.
He said the command had resolved 61 cases with 96 others outstanding.
“We have paid back all the money collected from suspected fraudsters to their rightful owners in the state without any complaint; the number of cases we received in 2016 was 157 and we were able to resolve 61,” he stated.
The command, he added, transferred 30 cases bordering on advanced fee fraud to the police, adding that 15 drug-related cases were handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
He maintained that the command was able to resolve all the cases it
received in 2016 through Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism.
He said no less than 32 suspected fraudsters were undergoing interrogation in the state.
The Nasarawa State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Elisha Iyakwari, urged the NSCDC to sustain the programme both at the state and local government levels.
