Chelsea have been told it will cost them €70 million if they want to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Morata returned to the Spanish capital after two successful years in Serie A with Juventus, but has been unable to oust Karim Benzema as Zinedine Zidane’s preferred main striker.
Despite a lack of playing time Morata, who has failed to start a single Champions League game this season, has amassed 15 goals in all competitions but has grown frustrated with his super-sub role.
Last month it was reported that the Spain international would quit the Bernabeu for the second time in the three years if Zidane remained at the helm beyond the current season.
Chelsea have been long-term admirers of the 24-year-old and Antonio Conte has reportedly identified Morata as the perfect candidate to build his attack around, should Diego Costa leave this summer.
But, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Chelsea chiefs have been told it will take a club record fee if they are to secure the services of a player who is also being tracked by Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.
