Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been tipped to move into Clarence House when Prince Charles ascends to the throne.

Longstanding rumours have suggested that the Prince of Wales and Camilla want to stay in the four-storey Westminster mansion.

Charles and his wife are said to be 'very comfortable' at their current lodgings and loathe to move to 'the big house'.

However, it now appears they will follow tradition and move into Buckingham Palace.

A Clarence House spokesman said: 'Buckingham Palace will remain the official London residence of the monarch'.

A senior royal aide categorically has ruled out the prince staying at Clarence House in any capacity once he accedes to the throne.

Prince William and Kate will are unlikely to occupy Clarence House after Charles' departure, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge insisting they will remain in Kensington Palace until he becomes monarch.

This would leave it free for Harry and Meghan, who have been in a relationship for more than a year and are tipped to become engaged soon.

Until such a move takes place, Harry and Meghan are likely to live in his current home, Nottingham Cottage, a two-bed house on the grounds of Kensington Palace.
