Tension As 2 Fulani Herdsmen Go Missing, 73 Cattle Killed After Gunmen Invaded Community


Unknown gunmen have invaded a community in Nasarawa state leaving 73 cattle dead and 2 herdsmen missing.

The incident has forced a mass exodus of residents in Kadarko community of Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday, according to a report by The Nigerian Tribune.


Confirming the incident, the State Commissioner for Police, Bello Ahmad said explained that “four out of the six herdsmen have been found but we don’t know the whereabouts of the remaining two herdsmen”.

The commissioner added, 17 persons were injured as a result of the attack by the unknown gunmen.

CP Ahmad stated that investigations are still ongoing to unravel those behind the incident and called on residents of the area to go about their normal businesses without fear.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of residents mostly of Tiv origin are leaving the community in droves for fear of reprisal attacks by the Fulani herdsmen.

One of the residents who spoke to Nigerian Tribune on anonymity, said, ”we have been seeing what is happening in other places, we cannot stay here otherwise they will come back and attack of and we are innocent”.
