Aturu, others against religious organisations paying taxes

Some prominent lawyers in Lagos on Thursday kicked against the payment of taxes by religious organisations in the country.

Delegates at the ongoing National Conference in Abuja had on Wednesday voted in support of taxing both churches and mosques.

For a very long time, the debate whether religious groups should pay tax has been going on but it always favour those who said that churches and mosques should not pay tax.

At the on-going National Conference, delegates had voted that henceforth every church and mosque in Nigeria should start paying tax to the government.
