Arsenal are set to rival Newcastle United for the signing for Loic Remy - by activating the striker's £8million release clause.
The Queens Park Rangers forward - who is currently on a season-long loan deal at Newcastle - has been rumoured to have the release clause in his contract, with Arsene Wenger looking to use it to bring the in-form forward to the Emirates ahead of next season.
Remy has been key to Newcastle's run to eighth place in the Premier League table with 13 league goals in 23 appearances, and the forward has also forced his way into the France squad ahead of the World Cup finals in Brazil in June.
Toon boss Alan Pardew will hope that Remy's goal scoring run at St.James' Park will convince the striker to remain in the North on a permanent basis, but with the lure of Champions League football with Arsenal, the striker may opt for a move back to London.
