Sex scandal- Harvey Weinstein fired from his own company

Harvey Weinstein has been fired from the Weinstein Company — effective immediately, according to its board of directors.

The decision to remove him was announced Sunday night in a statement.

“In light of new information about misconduct by Harvey Weinstein that has emerged in the past few days, the directors of The Weinstein Company – Robert Weinstein, Lance Maerov, Richard Koenigsberg and Tarak Ben Ammar – have determined, and have informed Harvey Weinstein, that his employment with The Weinstein Company is terminated, effective immediately,” the company said in a statement.
The news comes in wake of the New York Times’ explosive expose about Weinstein, alleging decades of sexual misconduct.

Former employees and associates, including actress Ashley Judd, have accused the filmmaker and Weinstein Company co-founder of making improper advances at them.

The allegations stretch back to Weinstein’s days running his independent movie studio, Miramax.

The 65-year-old has been losing allies, as of late — with his own brother now choosing to turn his back on him and voting to force him out.
