Two suspected cultists were on Thursday arraigned in an Osogbo Chief Magistrates ‘ Court in Osun over alleged possession of dangerous weapons.

Mukaila Ibrahim, 19, and Kareem Akeem, 22, are facing a five-count charge bothering on unlawful possession, theft and conspiracy.



The Prosecutor, Sgt. Duro Adekunle, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Sept. 12 at Oja Oba area in Osogbo.

Adekunle said the accused were arrested by police patrol team while they were in possession of an axe, life bullets and dangerous charms.

He said the offence contravened Sections 516, 64(a) (b), 213,430 (1), and 27 (1) b (11) of the firearms Act Cap F. 28, laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the five count charge.

Counsel to the accused, Mr Oladipo Olatunbosun, prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Sodamade Fatima, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N500,000 and one surety each in like sum.

Fatima said the surety must reside within the court jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and two passports photographs attached with an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned to Nov. 2 for hearing.
