Recall that a Monday night attack on Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State by the dreaded Boko Haram Islamist terror group led to the kidnapping of some girls.
The Federal Government, through the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, confirmed over the weekend that 110 girls remain unaccounted for days after the attack.
The kidnapping, which is reminiscent of the April 2014 kidnapping of 276 girls from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, has led to controversy.
The Chibok girls kidnapping had been identified as one of the main reasons for then President Goodluck Jonathan’s loss at the 2015 presidential election.
Hpwever, while the Buhari administration has been struggling to explain how the Dapchi incident happened, opposition politicians have questioned the ability of the government to fulfil its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property of the citizenry.
But taking to his verified Twitter handle on Monday morning, Keyamo wondered why the same politicians who doubted that girls were kidnapped in Chibok suddenly believed the Dapchi incident and have been screaming about it.
He said, “The Dapchi incident is a national calamity that should unite us all in d quest for a solution. But some pple treat it as a political point gained in d struggle for power. The same pple who doubted d Chibok incident, now scream more about d Dapchi incident all because of politics.”
