Nigeria football looks to be, unfortunately, heading into a long, dark night as world football –governing body is set to wield the big stick  today against the most populous black nation on earth.

Even as the Super Eagles still have a chance of qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to defend their crown, despite a poor start in the race; even with the Golden Eaglets, the reigning champions of the world, ready to compete at the African Championship to be eligible to travel to Chile to defend their world title next year, and with the Super Falcons reclaiming their continental title in Namibia on Saturday, non –conformity to simple football rules and regulations has put Nigeria at the danger of a big slam.

FIFA Lifts Ban On Nigeria

The crisis that has rocked the Nigeria Football Federation since the Aminu Maigari-led board was sacked on July 6 is to be resolved today in line with FIFA's deadline for suspension lifting.

The development is as a result of the vacation of a suit in High Court Jos, which had earlier granted restraining order against Maigari's board thus preventing him and his board from administering Nigerian football.

Nigeria rise to 34th in newest FIFA rankings

The Super Eagles are now ranked 34th in the world, according to the latest FIFA rankings released today.

Nigeria were eliminated in the second round of the 2014 World Cup, after a decent showing where they also drew 0-0 with Iran, beat Bosnia 1-0 and lost 3-2 to Argentina in the group stages.

This means the African champions are now third in Africa, only behind Algeria and Cote d’Ivoire, who are ranked 24th and 25th respectively.

World champions Germany, are now second in the world after Spain.

World Cup hit by 'match fix' storm as Ghana Police probe alleged rigging after sting

 

Ghana's football association has called in police after being caught up in an alleged match-fixing sting.

An undercover probe reportedly filmed a FIFA agent and a senior figure in the Ghanaian FA claiming they could hire officials to fix friendlies involving Ghana.

Blacked up German fans face Fifa probe after their clash with Ghana

 

German fans who went to their world cup game against Ghana with blacked-up faces have been accused of racism.

A disgusted fan counted eight Germans in black make-up and posted on Instagram: "Worst, people are lining up to take pictures with them. Poor form, #Germany.#racism#racists#worldcup."

Awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar was a “mistake” - Fifa president, Sepp Blatter

 

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has admitted that awarding the 2022 World Cup to Qatar was a “mistake”.

Speaking to Swiss channel RTS, Blatter acknowledged that the soccer world governing body has made an error in giving the world showpiece to the Asian nation due to the extreme temperatures in the region.

FIFA Rankings: Super Eagles now ranked 44th

The Super Eagles on Wednesday moved one step up in the monthly FIFA rankings to occupy 44th spot from their previous 45th position in the April rankings.

The Coach Stephen Keshi tutored side were virtually inactive in the period under review as FIFA rightly admitted that the May edition just released reflects the results of just 13 new matches.

FIFA probes match-fixing allegation against Nigeria

 

The world football governing body FIFA has started investigation into a recent allegation that the Super Eagles’ 2010 World Cup qualifying matches were rigged for them.

The spokesperson for the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Ademola Olajire, confirmed to The PUNCH on Wednesday that they have received correspondence from FIFA on the matter.
