Emenike faces ban for walking off pitch


Fenerbahçe forward Emmanuel Emenike faces disciplinary action in the Turkish league following his indecent reaction in the derby against Beşiktaş at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on Sunday.

The Nigeria international tore off his shirt in anger and ran off the pitch, demanding to be substituted in the first half, after his fans booed him for missing a ‘simple’ chance to put the hosts ahead.

Games between Flamengo and Vasco da Gama, dubbed the Classico dos Milhoes, are usually fierce affairs, and the latest instalment in the Campeonato Carioca lived up to such billing.
It was the hosts who won the game 2-1 courtesy of an Alecsandro double, but arguably the major talking point of the local derby came late on when the referee sent off not one, two or three – but FOUR players at the same time.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists he is “relaxed” about Raheem Sterling’s contract situation despite claims that the latest discussions have failed to find a solution to a long-running impasse.
The club have tabled what a couple of weeks ago Rodgers described as an “incredible” offer – reported to be in the region of £100,000 a week.

Sports minister, Tam Danagogo has warned the Nigeria Football Federation not to employ a lesser coach than Stephen Keshi should the ex-Togo coach decline to lead the Super Eagles.

Keshi has until Thursday this week to revert to the NFF over the contract offered him.

“What I have urged the NFF to do is to make sure that should Keshi not be given the job, a coach with a lesser pedigree than Keshi should not be employed. I have said we should encourage our local coaches,” Danagogo said.
