Soldiers Surround Ex Gombe State Governor, Senator Danjuma Goje's House

Soldiers have surrounded the Kashere, Gombe home of former Gombe State governor, Senator Danjuma Goje, in an alleged bid to effect “orders from above” to arrest him.

Goje, who spoke to some Senate correspondents in a phone chat from the sieged house said he could not understand why they were after him when there was no incidence of violence or any related matter.

Responding to the grouse of the APC Senators, the spokesman for the Senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, said although there were allegations against Senator Obanikoro, there was no court decision, condemning Senator Obanikoro for any crime.

PDP lawmaker, Senator Dahiru Kuta is dead

 

Reports reaching us indicates that Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Dahiru Awaisu Kuta is dead.
Kuta’s demise came few days after a former Minister of Information, Prof. Dora Akunyili passed on.
The late kuta was born on April 16, 1949 and was elected Senator for the Niger East constituency of Niger State, and assumed office on 29 May, 2007.
Until his demise, he was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Senate okays emergency rule extension in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States

 

The Senate on Tuesday, unanimously approved the extension of the state of emergency in the troubled states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, and gave seven conditions that should be met by the federal government in order to ensure its successful implementation.

Chief of Army Staff Relocates To Borno State

                              

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen, Kenneth Minimah, has relocated to the North-East  to personally supervise the war against  Boko Haram insurgents in the  zone.

Our correspondents gathered that the decision of the COAS   to join  his colleagues in the other services  in the zone was largely responsible for the recent successes recorded by the military.

There had been a public outcry over  the increased rate of the massacre of innocent civilians, including schoolchildren, by Boko Haram  terrorists in the North-East.
