I did not sack Ambode – Fashola


The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has denied stories making the rounds that he dismissed the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, from the state’s civil service for financial impropriety. 
Ambode was the state’s Accountant General before leaving the civil service.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state had said Ambode was sacked by Fashola for financial impropriety but Fashola denied the allegation, saying it was part of the desperate attempts by the PDP to win Saturday’s governorship election.
Fashola made the denial in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Hakeem Bello, on Saturday.

Politician's body found in canal prior to standing trial for rape


The body of the late politician who went missing after hours he learnt he was to stand trial for rape has been found in a canal.
60-year old Steve Stevaert's bike and coat had been earlier found by the side of the Albert canal prompting police to comb the canal and eventually finding his body.

I’ll Lead Massive Campaign Against APC – Bode George


The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Chief Bode George, says the loss his party suffered in the presidential election has strengthened his resolve to ensure victory for his party in Lagos.

He, therefore, said that he would strategise and lead a massive campaign against the All Progressives Congress, which has been in power in Lagos for the past 16 years.

Soldiers Surround Ex Gombe State Governor, Senator Danjuma Goje's House


Soldiers have surrounded the Kashere, Gombe home of former Gombe State governor, Senator Danjuma Goje, in an alleged bid to effect “orders from above” to arrest him.

Goje, who spoke to some Senate correspondents in a phone chat from the sieged house said he could not understand why they were after him when there was no incidence of violence or any related matter.

Ondo State Deputy Governor Dumps PDP for APC

Ondo state deputy governor Alhaji Alli Olanusi has decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
It would be recalled that Olanusi, 71, and the governor, Olusegun Mimiko defected to the PDP from Labour Party only last year but since their defection there’s been rancour between the existing PDP leaders in the state and Mimiko.

I did not steal Jonathan's Dollars - PDP Secretary who was beaten black & Blue


The South West Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Pegba Otemolu has denied the allegation  that he had diverted the fund meant for coordinators of President Goodluck Jonathan campaign organisation in the state.

Otemolu who was beaten blue Black in Abeokuta, last week, during a seminar organised for 746 coordinators of Jonathan’s re-election bid in the state ,recounting his ordeal in the hands of angry party members, saying he only escaped death by the whiskers .

The chances of the All Progressives Congress, APC, of winning the forthcoming 2015 general elections in Rivers state may have become slimmer with the latest development in the state, as reports reaching DAILY POST indicates that the deputy governor of the state, Engr. Tele Renner Ikuru have concluded plans to dump the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According sources in the state capital, Port Harcourt, Gov. Rotimi Amaechi deputy may have fallen for the overtures from the PDP to wreck APC and Amaechi chances at the elections in the state.

Ivory Coast's former first lady Simone Gbagbo arrives at the Court of Justice in Abidjan last month during her trial for 'attempting to undermine the security of the state' in events leading to 2010-2011 electoral bloodshed

A court in Ivory Coast on Tuesday sentenced former first lady Simone Gbagbo to a 20-year prison term on charges of “undermining state security” during post-election violence in 2010-2011 that left nearly 3,000 dead. 

The wife of former Ivorian president Laurent Gbagbo was also accused of “disturbing public order” and “organising armed gangs” after her husband and his supporters rejected results of the December 2010 presidential elections showing rival Alassane Ouattara had won the contest.

Atiku Under Pressure To Dump APC As Jonathan Woos Him


Eighteen days to the presidential election some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have put former Vice President Atiku Abubakar under intense pressure to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) and back the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Jega Will Go, Heavens Won't Fall - Fayose


Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described outbursts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the possible removal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof Attahiru Jega as "mere comedy," saying; "President Goodluck Jonathan can sack Jega if he wishes and if he does, heavens will not fall."
The governor, who said the APC should stop acting as if Nigeria belongs to the party, added that;

After reports claimed Afro-beat singer, Seun Kuti urged Nigerians not to vote for presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, paid a courtesy visit to one of the Kutis.
But Femi Kuti disclosed that the visit was not to convince him to join the APC or support them, but that his discussion with the erudite lawyer was about the future of Nigeria. The musician said he is not partisan.

Mark my words, Buhari will never be Nigeria president - Fayose

kiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has said that the hope of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seize power in Nigeria, using Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) will be dashed saying; "Buhari will never be Nigeria president again."

The governor also challenged Buhari to swear by the Holy Quran that he did not visit hospital in the United Kingdom last week.
