Chelsea are said to be leading the chase for the signature of highly-rated Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
The Blues are believed to be in the market for a new centre-forward in the summer, with veteran striker Didier Drogba’s future uncertain.
And according to reports in the Mirror, Icardi is the man Jose Mourinho has his eyes on – and he’s in pole position to snap up the Argentine.
However, Inter remain hopeful they can persuade the 22-year-old to put pen to paper on a bumper new deal should they secure Champions League football next season.
The Serie A side are currently 10 points off the pace in the hunt for a Champions League spot, but are already working on a new contract for the youngster, whose current deal expires in 2018.
