Mohamed Salah is set to have a big future at Chelsea despite being shipped out on loan to Fiorentina, according to the Seria A side’s boss Vincenzo Montella.
The Egyptian international joined Fiorentina until the end of the season, in a January deal which saw Juan Cuadrado move permanently in the other direction.
But despite appearing to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, Montella believes Chelsea are keeping a keen eye on Salah’s progress and doesn’t expect to be able to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
‘Salah is a player who, even if he has lulls in the game, is devastating in the final 40-50 metres,’ the Fiorentina manager said.
‘[Jose] Mourinho has a lot of choices, sometimes some players do not integrate with a team for many reasons. He was a redemption but I think they trust him much more.
‘Given how much [Chelsea] are asking for him, I think they have high hopes in him.’
