Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been name the Player of the Year at the London Football Awards, marking him out as the star of the capital.
The Frenchman beat team-mate Diego Costa, Tottenham pair Dele Alli and Danny Rose and Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to the award.
The gong rewards Kante for what has been a sensational season so far following his switch from Leicester City in the summer. The midfielder has been a constant in Antonio Conte’s side, helping the Blues to carve out a 10 point lead at the top of the Premier League title with his battling displays in the centre of the park.
How impressive Kante has been so far this term was highlighted by the players he beat to the gong. Sanchez, Costa and Alli will all likely be in contention for the PFA and Football Writers’ awards later in the year.
It was a great night for Chelsea at the London Football Awards, with Antonio Conte being named Manager of the Year and Frank Lampard picking up an Outstanding Contribution prize.
