Gunmen Reportedly Kidnap Diezani Allison-Madueke's Brother

Unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Thursday kidnapped Joseph Agama, the younger brother to Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, Police sources say.
 
 Police Spokesman for Bayelsa Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed the development on Thursday. He  said that the command got a report shortly after the incident happened.

Diezani nominated as OPEC secretary-general

Iraqi Oil Minister, Abdelkarim al-Luaybi on Tuesday 10 June claimed that Nigeria had nominated Petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, to succeed OPEC’s long-standing secretary-general Abdullah El-Badri.

Luaybi made the revelation in Vienna, home to Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) headquarters.

The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has given reasons why she would not honour the invitation by the House of Representatives Committee on Public Accounts, stating that the committee is yet to fulfill the conditions precedent for inviting public officers.

One of such conditions Alison-Madueke is insisting is that both chambers of the National Assembly are constitutionally required to show that they have passed a resolution duly published in their journal (Hansard) or in the official gazette of the Government of the Federation.

Speaker of the house of representatives, Aminu Tambuwal has ordered the immediate probe of Nigeria oil minister, Mrs. Dieziani Alison-Madueke over the aircraft charter scandal. He said the public accounts committee should commence an investigative hearing over the alleged 10 billion Naira charter aircraft scam involving the minister of Petroleum Resources.

The minister and NNPC had instituted the suit seeking to restrain the National Assembly from investigating its alleged spending on the hired aircraft.

An Abuja Federal High Court, on Monday ordered the House of Representatives to appear and explain allegations that it had stopped the probe of NNPC’s N10 billion spent on hiring an aircraft.

Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday, denied granting an interim injunction that stopped the Public Accounts Committee, PAC, of the House of Representatives from investigating the Minister of Petroleum Resources,Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, over allegation that she spent N10billion on chartered private jets.

The House of Representatives on Monday said a Federal High Court order stalled investigation in the alleged N10 billion spent on chattered aircraft by Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum Resources.

The house on March 27, mandated the Public Accounts Committee to investigate Alison-Madueke use of state funds in the last two years to charter, operate and maintain a jet for her personal use.
