Michael Essien’s wife purchases Italian club Como at an auction

Michael Essien’s wife purchases Italian club Como at an auction

The wife of former Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien has bought Italian third-division side Como at an auction.
Akosua Puni Essien bought the club for €237,000. The price does not include the training centre or the Calcio Como brand, and the team will now be known as FC Como.
A club statement said Puni Essien will return to Como soon and that she is “honoured to be part of a club which has 110 years of history.”
Como were relegated from Serie B last season and are currently in seventh place in Lega Pro and on course for the playoffs.
Puni Essien’s husband earlier this week signed for Persib Bandung to play in the Indonesia Liga 1 this season.
