Emre Can refusing to sign new Liverpool deal

Revealed: Why Emre Can has been refusing to sign a new deal since January

Emre Can is reportedly demanding Liverpool double his wages and has been sitting on a new deal since the turn of the new year.
The Liverpool midfielder put in an excellent performance against Arsenal after a string of wanting displays.

Can has been locked in contract talks for much of the season, but has yet to sign a new deal because of his wage demands.
The German currently earns around £35,000 a week, but Can has told the club he wants that figure to be doubled, according to the Mirror.

Liverpool are prepared to go toe-to-toe with Can despite the fact Juventus and several Bundesliga sides are monitoring the situation.
Can is highly thought of at Anfield and is believed to be on his way to becoming a top player, but Liverpool do not want to agree to such a hefty wage increase.

The Reds have handed several Liverpool stars significant wage increases this season with Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho both signing lucrative new deals.
Liverpool want Can’s salary to reflect his current position at the club which remains firmly in the ‘unfinished article’ section.

Jurgen Klopp is convinced Can will be an excellent player, but the 23-year-old is far from a nailed on starter.
Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig all want to bring Can back to Germany.
If Can continues to stick to his demands, he will go into the summer in the final year of his contract.
