Nigerian Government And Boko Haram Reach Agreement To Release Chibok Missing Girls

A news report on Channel TV today says that the Nigerian government has reached a ceasefire agreement with Boko Hraram following today's meeting between government officials led by President Jonathan's principal private secretary, Amb. Tukur, Chadian government and representative of Boko Haram led by Danaldi Ahmadu.

War over Chibok girls: Campaigners are APC –Audu Ogbeh

Mixed reactions, yesterday trailed the statement credited to a chieftain of  the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Audu Ogbeh that members of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign group are APC members.

The online media is awash with the statement by Ogbeh in which he is saying that members of the group fighting the cause of the girls are APC members. He also hailed them for sustaining the fight and  ensuring that the abduction of the over 200 girls  since March, remain a big issue.

Chibok parent alleges top staff of school moved their children before Boko Haram invasion

Some parents of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls say they believe there is cover up in the events that occurred before the abduction of their daughters by the Boko Haram sect.

One of the parents of the girls, Bulama Jonah told Leadership Newspaper that some top staffers of Government Secondary School, Chibok, moved their wives and daughters out of the school premises less than 24 hours before the terrorists visited Chibok on the night of April 14.

The Special Forces have arrested a top intelligence operative of the Boko Haram sect. The suspect is believed to have spearheaded the abduction of the female students of Government Secondary, Chibok, on April 14, 2014, the Defence Headquarters said in a statement on Monday. The statement by the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, named the Boko Haram operative as Babuji Ya’ari, said to be a businessman and leader of a youth vigilance group, popularly known as the Civilian JTF.

THE Borno State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), on Friday, denied media reports that Fulani woman were abducted by Boko Haram members at a village near Chibok.

Chairman of the association, Alhaji Amadu Musa, told journalists that the reported abduction of over 30 women was not true.

Abducted Chibok girls : UK rejects negotiation with Boko Haram

The United Kingdom has kicked against any plan by Nigeria to negotiate with Boko Haram over the kidnapped schoolgirls of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

The over 200 pupils were kidnapped in the night and their hostels burnt before being transported in trucks to the Sambisa forest stronghold of Boko Haram. Over 50 of the schoolgirls escaped from the sect and there have been reports that some of the pupils have been seen being moved out of Nigeria.

Boko Haram: Fighter Jets Raid Bauchi Forests

Security sources and residents of nearby villages in Bauchi said that, fighter jets have begun conducting raids on camps set up by suspected Boko Haram militants in forests.

Residents of Ganjuwa and Darazo local government areas said they had sighted military aircraft heading towards the forests and heard sounds of bombings in the early hours of yesterday.

Nigerian Army Begins recruitment of Volunteer Army Personnel

According to a report by Channels TV, the Nigerian army has announced the recruitment of volunteer soldiers that will serve in the search for the missing Chibok girls as well as help in the fight against Boko Haram insurgence.

In a press briefing today, the Director of Public Affairs said the recruitment exercise is open to only able bodied persons.
