Ex-ICAN president, Ajaegbu defects to APC

A former President of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Mr. Chidi AJAEGBU, has defected to the All Progressives Congress in Abia State.
The former ICAN boss, who served as Director of Finance, Abia PDP, during the 2015 general elections, said he left his former party following the failure of the PDP-led government in Abia State to meet the yearnings and expectations of greater Abians.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after he was presented to the leadership of the APC in Osisioma LGA after formalizing his registration at his Umuojima ward on Wednesday, Mr. Ajaegbu promised to join other progressives and leaders to ensure that the APC takes over the mantle of leadership at all levels in Abia State.
He said, “You can see that I am being received by my people. I have formally decamped from PDP to APC. My exceptions and that of Abians were not met by the present government, and the reasons being given are not tenable. The structure of the PDP does not give room for credible democracy and an all-inclusive governance. We need to find a credible alternative to ensure that the ‘Change’ berths in Abia. The money accruable to the state is a common wealth and we need transparency on how it is being deployed to the service of our people.”
Also speaking, the chairman of the APC in Abia State, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, expressed optimism and preparedness of the party to dislodge the ruling PDP in the state.
He expressed delight that Ajaegbu, whom he discerned as a ‘man of honour with an impeccable character’ is bringing to the party transparency, honesty and discipline which also said is ‘lacking in Abia State’.
