A Federal High Court has temporarily frozen at least 20 accounts belonging to Sani Dangote, a brother to billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote, over his alleged failure to pay a N5.2 billion obtained from Union Bank.
All cheques drawn on all of Mr. Dangote’s accounts in 20 banks are not to be honoured, the court in Lagos ordered Thursday.

According to a new report on Premium Times, the imminent breakup of their marriage may be the least of the problems popular mega-church pastor, Chris Oyakhilome, and his wife, Anita, are facing  at the moment as the United Kingdom agency is investigating the UK branch of their church, Christ Embassy, over controversial payments.

The United Kingdom Charity Commission has launched a probe into the transfer of at least N941 million (£3.6 million) by the church to overseas entities between 2008 and 2012.

Four members of a robbery gang who were arrested by the Lagos State Police Command have said they usually prayed to God before any operation.

One of the suspected robbers, Mutalubi Abdullahi, explained that the prayer was to ensure that only ‘sinners’ would be dealt with by the gang, while the ‘innocent’ would be spared.

Abdullahi, who was arrested along with Ismaila Moruf, Opeyemi Akinyemi and Sarah Emmanuel, were arrested by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command, for robbing early morning pedestrians and motorists in the Mile 2 area of the state.

Sri Lanka rape doctor has been sentenced to death

A Sri Lankan doctor who raped and murdered a patient at a Hospital near Colombo has been given the death penalty.

Dr Indika Sudharsana Balage was found guilty for the killing a young woman who was a garment factory worker at a hospital in Negombo in 2007.

Dr Balage was convicted for strangling the 23-year-old girl before throwing her body through the window from a sixth floor.

Hundreds of convicts are on death row in Sri Lanka but the coutry's last execution was in 1976.

Report has it that Balage’s victim, Chamila Dissanayake, was at the hospital following an operation.

CBN to print electoral materials for 2015 elections

CHAIRMAN, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, on Wednesday, said the commission would explore ways to collaborate with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on the printing of electoral materials for the elections.
This came contrary to rumours doing the round that INEC would print electoral materials for the election abroad.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Denies Adultery Accusations, Threatens To Sue Journalists


Though not denying the growing divorce scandal surrounding him, the head pastor of Christ Embassy Church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has threatened legal recourse against journalists publishing stories about him and his wife, Anita's divorce.
The pastor, who spoke through his lawyer, Mr. Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), called the accusations of adultery a "false and malicious" attack against him and the church.

One of death-row's longest serving inmates has been freed after 30 years in prison, thanks to new DNA evidence proving he did not commit the rape and murder he was jailed for.
Henry McCollum and his half-brother Leon Brown were just teenagers when they were convicted of the 1983 rape and killing of 11-year-old Sabrina Buie is North Carolina.
Mr McCollum is the US state's longest serving death-row prisoner, while Mr Brown's sentence was reduced to life in prison for rape after a second trial.

UK Deputy High Commissioner Slumps, Dies at Lagos Airport

THE Deputy British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Carter Leslie, has reportedly died of a heart attack following his collapse as the Muritala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos.
Leslie was reported to have fallen and slumped while arriving Nigeria on onboard a Delta Airlines from Atlanta Georgia.
The incident temporarily caused uproar at the airport as many feared that he may have died of the Ebola Virus disease presently ravaging the country.
He was later confirmed to have died of heart attack.
His body was taken to an undisclosed hospital where he was officially declared death.
